  • Cops shoot cat who bit 3-year-old girl on Clinton Township preschool playground

by Loren Fisher on March 29th, 2010 | Comment

Clinton Township police shot and killed a cat that bit a 3-year-old girl on the playground of a preschool on Lower Central Street last Wednesday.

Police went to the preschool at about 5:25 p.m. March 24 on a report that the Clinton Borough girl had been bitten by the cat.
Police were told that the girl was bitten when she attempted to pet the cat. The girl’s mother had already taken her from the scene.
The Clinton Township animal control officer requested the officers destroy the cat, which was described as feral, dirty, and “very large,” police said.
An officer used his service weapon to destroy the animal and subsequently turned it over to the animal control officer who was to submit it to the Hunterdon County Health Department for testing.
A nearby resident told police the cat had also bitten her a year ago.

Hello! My name is Sherry, I am a technician at Southport Veterinary Center in Ct. We actually have a rescue kitty at our hospital named JJ who had come in paraplegic and lame on his front right paw. He came from Brooklyn, NY as a return to their shelter 3X, twice injured, either a high-rise syndrome or hit by car. We’ve had him since March ‘09 and with a lot of physical therapy, massage and patience he has regained use of his hind legs and can walk now. His front right paw had been through a surgery to “fuse” his bones together to no avail, so it just kinda flops around. I was wondering what you use for Tashi’s bladder, JJ’s is hypersensitive and needs to be expressed 2-3 times daily, he needs to be retrained with the litterbox and is presently on zenequin and paxil. I’m not sure if I can leave my phone number here but hopefully we can help each other.
